Tom Marshall in support of renewable resource development

From The Western Star:

““Our forest management issues will not be resolved by investments alone — we cannot succeed without the professionals who understand the forestry practices,” Marshall said of the Canadian Institute of Forestry meeting.

Marshall gave an address to help open the conference Monday. He highlighted the prosperity of the province since becoming a “have” province. The Natural Resources minister said Newfoundland and Labrador was second only to Saskatchewan in percentage of economic growth last year.

“We have more people working in our province now than we have ever had in our history,” Marshall said to the large crowd gathered at the Pepsi Centre Studio.

There have been big changes in the province and these have been driven by the natural resources, specifically oil and mineral, he said, but the non-renewable resources are eventually going to run out.

“We have to utilize those resources and revenue, but also begin getting renewable revenues coming in for the day that the oil, the gas, the minerals are gone,” said Marshall.”
