Reminder that owners and operators of wastewater systems were required to submit an ID report

The Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations came into effect on June 29, 2012. Owners and operators of wastewater systems were required to submit an identification report to Environment Canada by May 15, 2013.
Owners and operators of wastewater systems that have not yet submitted an identification report should do so as soon as possible.
The Regulations apply to any wastewater system that discharges wastewater effluent to surface water and collects, or is designed to collect, an average daily volume of influent of 100 m3, or more, during a calendar year. The Regulations include requirements for monitoring effluent quality and quantity, record-keeping and reporting that came into force on January 1, 2013.
The Effluent Regulatory Reporting Information System (ERRIS) is available online through Environment Canada’s Single Window Information System (SWIM) for the submission of the identification reports and on-going effluent monitoring reports. You will find a User Guide that provides instructions on how to navigate SWIM and complete the WSER identification report and the monitoring reports using ERRIS on Environment Canada’s Wastewater Website. This website also contains tables outlining the regulatory requirements for owners and operators of wastewater systems and a timeline of the important dates (see Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations Reporting).
