Parliamentary Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans undertaking Review of the 2012 changes to the Fisheries Act

On June 20, 2016, the Government of Canada launched a review of a number of environmental and regulatory processes. Included in this announcement was the Government’s intention to undertake a review of the 2012 changes to the Fisheries Act. The Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard has requested that the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Fisheries and Oceans undertake this review and solicit input from all Canadians regarding the changes made to the legislation in 2012.
The review, to begin in Fall 2016, will focus on restoring lost protections and incorporating modern safeguards to the Fisheries Act. Information related to the review can be found at:
