1) Accessing Global Talent - Enhancing Employer Competitiveness

A breakfast presentation by AXIS Career Services, a department of the Association for New Canadians, outlining resources available to employers exploring the option of hiring immigrants with professional skill sets such as engineering and technology. Complimentary light breakfast. more info

2) Hazwoper Training (Hazardous Waste Operations & Emergency Response)   

Only offered through NEIA this is a 40 Hour HAZWOPER training course and an 8 Hour HAZWOPER refresher course. This certification is recognized in the US and Canada for work performed at uncontrolled waste sites. This is a mandatory requirement for several government departments to qualify for tenders involving hazmat. more info

3) Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC) - Statement of Interest (SOI) Workshop

Learn how to prepare a quality SOI submission, and find about the SDTC's funding mandate which includes the development and demonstration of new Canadian clean technology innovations that address issues of climate change, clean air, clean water, water conservation and soil quality.

Released: New Action Plans on Climate Change and Energy Efficiency

Delivering on commitments from both the 2007 Energy Plan and Northern Strategic Plan, the Provincial Government today released two action plans - Charting our Course: Climate Change Action Plan 2011 and Moving Forward: Energy Efficiency Action Plan 2011. IOC Announces Study for Further Expansion 

IOC announced on August 16, 2011 the undertaking of a study to pursue the expansion of its mining and infrastructure assets in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador and Sept Iles, Quebec. more info
