The Newfoundland and Labrador Economy and the Environment Conference, NewLeef, is where the economy and the environment intersect. Taking place at the Holiday Inn on October 10-11, 2013, in St. John’s, NL, NEIA’s conference brings together experts in the field of the green economy, and those who are working within the environmental sector.

NewLeef is the premier conference for businesses and organizations in Newfoundland and Labrador working to grow the environmental sector of the economy. The green economy is growing in our province. Newfoundland and Labrador companies are selling goods and services which help preserve our environment; reducing waste and our carbon footprint to trim operating costs and improve our bottom lines; building with more sustainable and efficient materials; and providing crucial knowledge and expertise for operations ranging from mega-projects to home offices. The environmental sector enables the sustainable development of other industries in our province: the natural environment is critically important for tourism and the attraction and retention of workers.

The focus for 2013’s conference is “adaptation”: how businesses in the environmental sector can adapt to a changing climate, changing markets, changing regulations and processes, and changing technology. The forum is comprised of a day and half of presentations and sessions, 3 keynote speakers, a sector trade show, and an evening social.
