MTS journal calls for papers on marine renewable energy technologies

NOTE: This opportunity has expired or is an event which has already taken place.

Ocean renewable energy is by nature a multi-disciplinary challenge, combining diverse expertise from the science, policy and engineering fields. The fourth Annual Marine Renewable Energy Technical Conference was born out of a need in the emerging ocean energy industry to bring together the disciplines that must be employed to site, design, and implement grid-ready ocean wind, wave, tide, current, and thermal energy technologies.

Since 2009, the New England Marine Renewable Energy Center at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, its affiliates and sponsors have hosted three technical conferences. To expand the dissemination of the presented ocean energy technology and research, and add value to all participants, the best contributions to the October 2012 conference will be published in the MTS Journal’s in July/August 2013 issue as a specual themed issue. Special Issue guest editors will include Kenneth Baldwin, UNH; Stephan Grilli, URI; Brian Howes and Daniel MacDonald, UMass Dartmouth; and Maggie L. Merrill; New England Marine Renewable Energy Center.

In addition, to the papers from the conference we are extending an invitation to the general marine engineering and technology community to submit papers addressing areas related to ocean energy device design, installation, monitoring, and operations.

The important dates for manuscripts is as follows:

  • March 8, 2013 Manuscripts due
  • April 26, 2013 Authors receive reviews
  • May 17, 2013 Authors submit final revisions
  • June 21, 2013 Authors receive proofs
  • June 28, 2013 Authors return final corrections
  • July 19, 2013 MTSJ available online and sent to printer

By addressing marine renewable energy in this way, with a separate MTS Journal issue, we hope to will bring timely attention to an emerging industry that will provide clean, renewable power to U.S. homes, factories, and government facilities.”
