JOB OPPORTUNITY: Junior Environmental Assessment Practitioner (Golder Associates)

Golder Associates’ continued growth in the Atlantic Region has resulted in the need for a Junior EA Practitioner to join our community of high performing engineers, scientists, and business professionals in our St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador office.

As a Junior EA Practitioner, you will contribute expertise in the following areas:

  • Participating in the coordination and implementation, and assisting in the management of large and small EA and environmental permitting projects;
  • Producing quality written technical reports in support of large and small EA and environmental permitting projects;
  • Presenting and communicating technical reports and documents to new and existing clients, regulators, and peers;
  • Coordinating and participating in meetings and/or supporting public consultation events and initiatives as part of the EA process;
  • Applying and enforcing Golder project standards;
  • Creating, executing and revising work plans to meet project needs;
  • Developing, managing and reviewing project budgets;
  • Strengthening ties with existing clients and cultivating new clients;
  • Promoting Golder’s services to internal and external clients and penetrating new markets; and,

Integrating work with other disciplines on projects such as regulatory compliance, environmental management, waste management, environmental site assessment, engineering, closure planning and other specialist disciplines.

Job Requirements:

The EA team in Atlantic Canada consists of senior, intermediate and junior staff with expertise in various technical disciplines that are key components of EA such as: terrestrial and aquatic ecology, atmospheric sciences and cultural science. The St. John’s office is part of the Atlantic Canada team, and of the larger national and international teams.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in in related field , with Graduate Degree (M.Sc., Ph.D.) preferred but not required;
  • 1 to 4 years’ experience in EA consulting;
  • An understanding of the Newfoundland and Labrador and Canadian EA legislation and processes;
  • A highly motivated and dedicated personality, committed to delivering excellence;
  • Experience in the mining, oil and gas and energy sectors will be an asset;
  • Excellent writing, organizational and process management skills;
  • Ability to function in a team setting, accept responsibility and work to deadlines;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Focus and commitment to providing quality deliverables in a timely fashion;
  • Focus on health and safety in the workplace and willingness to lead and promote our health and safety culture;
  • A valid driver’s license; and,
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
