Job Opportunity: Emergency Response and Oil Spill Advisor, Suncor

Reporting to the Team Lead, Environment, Emergency Response and Security, the Emergency Response and Oil Spill Advisor provides the technical support and coordination of the development and maintenance of regional emergency and oil spill response plans and processes.
This opportunity closes on March 27, 2015.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support the provision and maintenance of offshore oil spill response equipment, including the management of response contractors
- Coordinate the Suncor Seabird (rehabilitation) Centre
- Coordinate the development of East Coast regional emergency response plans, ensure alignment and integration of those plans with corporate policies and ensure the needs of other key stakeholders are met (i.e., local authorities and regulators)
- Act as a planning advisor for East Coast, and as such, develop, implement, support and instruct management and staff in emergency management techniques including organization and facilitation of training and exercises
- Maintain emergency response centre and team readiness, including the weekly on call schedule
- Prepare and revise emergency response and oil spill documentation and procedures
- Conduct the screening of chemicals in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements
- Support environmental compliance reporting to various regulatory agencies
- Stay engaged in current and emerging regulatory compliance issues, industry standards and best practices relating to emergency response and oil spill equipment and preparedness
