Commercialization Lead

SmartICE is seeking a highly motivated, result-oriented, creative, and collaborative individual to join our organization. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work in a highly entrepreneurial environment and join a small cross-functional powerful team with a mission of bringing SmartICE innovations to the north. Working closely with SmartICE staff, the Commercialization Lead will focus on aspects of identifying all cost inputs into the final pricing of SmartICE technology products and services as well as helping ready SmartICE for rapid market entry and expansion.


Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • Identifying all cost inputs into the final pricing of SmartICE technology products and services
  • Facilitate the development of a pricing strategy and model for SmartICE products and services
  • Aid with the procurement and pricing of technical components of the SmartBUOY and other products and services
  • Assist and guide research and preparation of item specifications and RFQs for sourcing inventory related to manufacturing of products
  • Identify procurement and market entry risks early and help establish mitigation plans
  • Developing and executing go-to-market strategies for high value northern based clients
  • Oversee the development of customer funnel and database including generating purchase intentions from potential customers including customer segmentation
  • Work collaboratively to review transaction related documents which include purchase orders, commercial invoices, and shipping documents to ensure accuracy


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution related to engineering or business
  • Strong organizational, project management and communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, which includes being a whiz at Excel
  • Experience in developing pricing strategies and models
  • Experience in sales, business development
  • Technical or electrical based background would be considered an asset
  • Must have graduated within the past three years from a recognized post- secondary institution, and reside in Newfoundland & Labrador.
