Job Opportunity: Geotechnical Engineer – LVM | Maritime Testing

Formerly Maritime Testing, our firm has now joined with LVM and is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join its new St. John’s office. Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing Geotechnical Engineering Reports for roads, subdivisions, towers, bridges, buildings, tunnels, wind farms, dams, slope stability, retaining walls and municipal infrastructure. You will also play a key role in the development of the new office. More specifically, you will:

Responsibilities

  • Manage geotechnical and geo-materials projects and staff;
  • Organize site investigations, field inspection/testing programs, and laboratory testing programs;
  • Assist in site inspections and field investigations;
  • Carry out client liaison and management;
  • Prepare proposals;
  • Write geotechnical engineering reports;
  • Review and forward test results and reports;
  • Monitor budgets and prepare invoices;
  • Attend site and office meetings.

Requirements

  • University degree in Civil or Geological Engineering;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in geotechnical and geo-materials related work;
  • Member of the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL);
  • Experience in geotechnical site investigations, building construction and site preparation, roadway construction, design of deep and shallow foundations, slope stability and on-site review of construction activities (asset);
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle;
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Newfoundland and Labrador on an occasional basis.
