Business Development in Europe
Ocean-based industries are a major driver of Newfoundland and Labrador’s economy, and our private sector has developed world-class expertise in the provision of supporting clean technology and environmental services.
Many European markets feature both significant ocean economies and technological expertise, and are natural trading partners for Eastern Canada. Through this program, NEIA supports firms to engage in business development activity in in one of three ways: (1) assisting them with the direct export of their products and/or services into European markets; (2) assisting them in the diversification of their products and/or services into new industries (e.g. offshore wind); and (3) helping them diversify through the transfer of technologies and expertise vis-a-vis joint ventures or partnerships with European firms.
Since 2016, NEIA has actively assisted in the internationalization of local businesses through European channels. This work has included working one-on-one with firms to acquire market intelligence, develop entry and supply chain penetration strategies, provide matchmaking services, and facilitate business development missions.
