Emergency Management & Response Conference

Wednesday, April 30 and Thursday, May 1 – Albatross Hotel

The Emergency Management & Response Conference will be held as a pre-conference session focussed on your role in preparing for and dealing with emergencies and disasters that can occur at anytime in their communities. We have prepared a very informative and interactive agenda, one that will appeal to all members, emergency first responders, government departments, and all those that are involved in keeping residents of our province safe and assisting them after they have been impacted by a disaster.

We are very happy to have partnered with Fire and Emergency Services (Municipal & Intergovernmental Affairs) and the Canadian Red Cross to bring this very worthwhile conference and diverse speakers and topics. It should be a great learning experience for all those who will be attending.

There is a separate registration free for this Emergency conference, it includes the informative session, supper on Wednesday evening, a meet & greet on Wednesday night with some displays and lunch on Thursday. Please see the attached registration package for a complete agenda and registration form for your information.

Attendance at this conference is eligible for funding through the Matched Training fund. The fee is $200.00 per person.

Municipal Symposium

Thursday, May 1 – Saturday, May 3 – Hotel Gander

The 2014 Municipal Symposium will focus on reviewing the information gathered by the Department of Municipal and Intergovernmental Affairs during their Fiscal Framework consultations held throughout the province. The Department will present its finding, and our members will have the opportunity to take that information and review it in small concurrent sessions with their colleagues. The discussions from these concurrent sessions will then be presented back to the Department before the Symposium concludes.

Other sessions included on this year’s agenda include the launch of the MNL Benchmarking Website for members; the Economic Development Accord launch; a review of MNL Membership Services; the Municipal Council Handbook release and discussion; a trade show and lots of opportunities to network with your municipal colleagues.

The registration fee for the 2014 Municipal Symposium is $250.00 per person (this does NOT include attendance at the Emergency Management & Response Conference!!). Please see the attached registration package for a complete agenda and registration form for your information.

Accommodations are available at all hotels in Gander, please advise that you are attending the MNL Emergency Conference and/or Municipal Symposium.

Be sure to book them for the appropriate number of nights if you are attending both conferences and guarantee them with a credit card.
