Coastal Matters Speakers Series: “Newfoundland and Labrador Fisheries: Evolution and Growth” w/ Hon. Gerry Byrne

NOTE: This opportunity has expired or is an event which has already taken place.

Minister of Fisheries and Land Resources, Honourable Gerry Byrne, will speak about the rapidly evolving domestic governance tools for ocean management, protection and exploitation. Amendments to the federal Fisheries Act, a possible new federal Aquaculture Act and expansion of Marine Protected Areas represent some of the most evident changes coming. Minister Byrne will give his perspective of these events, the value of collaboration and consensus building for ensuring success, and a significant role the academic community can offer through their participation in this debate.

This talk will take place 12:30 to 1:20pm, Friday, January 26th in room 2014 of the Forest Centre, Grenfell Campus, Corner Brook. As with all Coastal Matters presentations this session is free of charge and open to the public. RSVP’s not required. Tea and coffee will be available; feel free to bring your own bagged lunch.
