Cleantech Business Development Mission to the UK

**Please note: This mission is now FULL**

The Newfoundland and Labrador Environmental Industry Association (NEIA) is leading a virtual business development mission to the United Kingdom, to take place in late October, 2020.

Based on the expressed interest of businesses, the mission will focus on the investigation of supply chain opportunities for firms from Atlantic Canada with clean technologies and environmental products/services in the UK’s offshore oil and gas industry and its rapidly growing offshore wind industry (floating and non-floating).

The objective of the mission is to hear from industry leaders, developers, policy makers, supply chain clusters, and leading service providers to understand what is happening in the UK in this regard. This will lead to one-on-one conversations for mission participants to further explore supply chain opportunities.

Mission participants can choose to engage in one or each of the four days of activities. Each day will include interactive virtual sessions based around each of the four themes listed below.

Day 1 – Northern Scotland

The north of Scotland represents a unique opportunity to explore the potential for both oil and gas, with continued investments in the North Sea along with the decommissioning of older platforms. This runs alongside the rise in interest for floating offshore wind. We will hear from industry leaders, policy makers and key supply chain partners.

Day 2 – Southern Scotland & North East England

The area from Edinburgh down through the Humber estuary continues to see significant developments in offshore wind. Developments such as Inch Cape of the coast near St Andrews, alongside the Dogger Bank developments, represent $18 billion of investment.

Day 3 – East of England

Hornsea is a major new offshore wind farm being developed by Ørsted off the UK’s East coast, located roughly halfway between the Dogger Bank Wind Farm and East Anglia Wind Farm. The project is split into 4 subzones, which together will generate a total capacity of 6GW. This is planned to be the biggest offshore wind farm in the world. Along with the East Anglia Three project, these investments are in the order of $37 billion from now to 2028.

Day 4 – Celtic and Irish Sea

The Celtic and Irish seas coastline from Cornwall, through South Wales and to the North of Wales and Morecambe will be an area that will see commercial development of floating wind in coming years. The Celtic Sea could support up to 50GW of offshore capacity in the years up to 2030. Wales is also home to the UK’s marine energy industry, with a number of projects from tidal lagoons to turbines in development.

Mission Format

NEIA is determined to provide participants with a business development experience that measures in quality to its in-market activities. By using higher quality technology, and developing curated content, NEIA’s aim is to go beyond the standard video call and make the meetings as ‘real’ as can be. Participation in these virtual sessions is therefore limited to enhance the experience.

Participation is open to firms throughout Atlantic Canada. Businesses can choose to participate in some or all of the sessions indicated above. The cost for participants is $400 + HST.

This fee includes:

  • Participation in the intimate and interactive presentations, which will be curated to meet the objectives of your business
  • A facilitated discussion between your firm and the subject matter experts
  • Three (3) targeted B2B meetings between your firm and pre-qualified contacts within the subject area of interest, based on your firm’s stated business development needs and objectives

The mission components will be spread out between October 26th and November 2nd 2020. As the meetings will be virtual in nature, they will be scheduled according to the availability of the participants and presenters. B2B meetings will be scheduled similarly.

Indicate Your Interest
This mission is almost fully subscribed. To indicate your interest in participating, please contact NEIA’s Manager of International Business at abbie@neia.org as soon as possible.
