Applications Available for Student Summer Employment Programs

The Provincial Government is offering subsidies under the Student Summer Employment Programs – Post-Secondary and High School. Government has integrated the Student Work and Service Program (SWASP) and the Student Employment Program – Non-Profit Component to create the Student Summer Employment Program – Post-Secondary.
Student Summer Employment Program – Post-Secondary
- The wage subsidy for private sector employers is $5 per hour.
- The wage subsidy for non-profit employers is $10 per hour plus 15 per cent for Mandatory Employment Related Costs (MERCs).
- The duration of the wage subsidy for post-secondary students is 5 to 12 weeks.
- A maximum of 40 hours and a minimum of 25 hours may be subsidized per week.
Student Summer Employment Program – High School
- The wage subsidy for non-profit employers is $10 per hour plus 15 per cent for Mandatory Employment Related Costs (MERCs).
- The duration of the wage subsidy for high school students is 4 to 8 weeks.
- A maximum of 40 hours and a minimum of 20 hours may be subsidized per week.
