2019-20 Board of Directors Candidates

NEIA is governed by a 9-member board elected from the membership. From March 27-29, 2019, NEIA will elect four (4) Directors. More information on the Annual General Meeting can be found here.

The following candidates were nominated by the deadline date of March 22. Candidates are listed alphabetically. As there were four (4) nominations and four (4) positions available, these candidates will be acclaimed on March 29.

Chad Butler
Director and CFO
Growler Energy

Chad Butler is Director and CFO of Growler Energy, a renewable energy development company based in St. John’s. Chad is a progressive project leader and natural team player with strong management skills. With over 10 years’ experience working in project environments, Chad has tackled challenging roles around the world including assignments in Canada, the United States of America, and Angola. His project experience includes expertise in the oil & gas and renewables sectors, with a focus on subsea construction and working with senior project management teams. With a leadership style focused on social awareness, Chad has the ability to effectively foster a positive work environment and build strong client relationships.

Melissa English-Barbour
Senior Manager – Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE)
Aker Solutions

Melissa English-Barbour is a Senior HSSE Manager with Aker Solutions Canada Inc. and has 18 years of experience in oil and gas projects and large company environments. A graduate of Memorial University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Melissa is also a Canadian Registered Safety Professional, holds a Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety from the University of New Brunswick, and is an ISO 9001, 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001-trained auditor. Melissa has held senior HSSE positions in local oil and gas companies such as WorleyParsons Canada, Noble Drilling Canada, and K&D Pratt, and is a past member of the Women of WorleyParsons, St. John’s Chapter, the Worker’s Compensation Advisory Committee for the NL Employer’s Council, and Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) Training and Qualifications Committee. Melissa also appeared in the Oil and Gas Magazine’s Up and Coming section of the Fall 2014 edition focusing on Safety and Environment. Besides her role as Senior HSSE Manager, Melissa is also a mom to a son, Bradley (14) and daughter, Elle (12), and wife to husband, Brad.

Joshua Green
Founder and CEO
Mysa Smart Thermostats

Joshua Green is the CEO and cofounder of Mysa Smart Thermostats. Josh cofounded the company to build the world’s first smart thermostats for electric baseboard heating. Over the next 2 years, Joshua has assembled and led the company to develop and market the Mysa Smart Thermostat. The product has been a hit across North America finally bringing smart control to electric heating and in turn, helping homeowners and business save on electricity consumption. Josh is highly motivated by doing right for the environment and creating a more sustainable world for all.

Delia Warren
Project Manager
SW Energy

Delia is currently working as a project manager at SW Energy, a NL-based renewable energy and energy solutions company. She is actively involved in the province’s renewable energy and climate change mitigation space, as director of Iron & Earth East and a founding member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Energy Action Research Network (NLEARN). As a professional engineer, she has a background in offshore oil and gas, and is currently in the final stages of completing an MBA at Memorial University.
