After a great and very informative presentation on Deep Energy Retrofitting of a Salt Box Homes at Newleef 2017, Ashley Smith, B.Sc, M.Eng, LEED AP of Fundamental Inc. will host another session on Sustainable Masterplanning – Building Green Infrastructure into Town Planning. This presentation will discuss methods of implementing alternative infrastructure into community development by including a sustainable component within the Town planning process. The overall goal of sustainable masterplanning is to articulate natural nutrient cycles and energy flows into the planned developments and infrastructure. Topics and strategies discussed will include:

  • Alternative storm water management
  • Integrated solar and wind energy production
  • Connectivity plans, pedestrianism, and alternative transport modeling
  • Alternative wastewater management
  • Urban design for wildlife biology
  • Street grids and aspect ratios for urban climate control
  • Integrated infrastructure and open space planning
  • Use of development guidelines, regulations, and building controls to promote sustainable development

Each City, Town, and Community has its own set of unique planning challenges and opportunities. These distinctive opportunities and challenges provide positive, locally inspired directions for design and strategy development.

This presentation will be of interest to Municipalities, civic minded individuals, Engineering firms, and Architecture and Planning firms.
