Newfoundland and Labrador's largest local environment company.

Sikumiut Environmental Management Ltd. (SEM) is the largest wholly Newfoundland and Labrador owned and operated environmental consulting firm in the province. It is registered as an Inuit Business with the Nunatsiavut Government and is considered as an Aboriginal Business under Federal Government criteria. Sikumiut is an Inuktitut word for “People of the Sea Ice”. SEM is incorporated under the laws of Newfoundland and Labrador and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEG-NL), as well as the Newfoundland and Labrador Environmental Industries Association (NEIA), and the Newfoundland and Labrador Oil & Gas Industry Association (NOIA).

The Sikumiut owners and equal partners are Ron Webb, an Inuk residing in Nain; Gus Dicker, an Inuk residing in Nain; and Leroy Metcalfe, an Inuk originally from Nain, now residing in St. John’s. The company has offices in Nain and St. John’s, with a core staff of 20, seasonally growing to over 40. In addition, SEM has developed a network of senior advisors who are available as-needed to provide their experience and insights.
