The provincial government is growing increasingly concerned by the amount of time it is taking the province’s public utilities to provide applications to the PUB on Net Metering.
An online petition has been launched asking government to move on allowing residents to generate their own power and sell it to the grid, but the province says it’s still waiting on Newfoundland Power and Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro to submit applications to the Public Utilities Board.
The previous government had developed a net metering policy framework and had directed the utilities to submit applications to the PUB for review, but that process appears to have stalled.
The PUB is required to set up a regulatory process for Net Metering and the provincial government is asking both utilities to move forward on the process.
