NEIA member presents at Inspiring Circular Innovation Conference

Dawne Skinner, from NEIA member Dillon Consulting, presented at the Recycling Council of British Columbia’s (RCBC) Inspiring Circular Innovation conference in Whistler, BC. Her presentation “Fast Moving Consumer Goods in the Circular Economy” discussed four of the challenges (or opportunities) in applying Circular Economy principles to the large volume of packaging waste generated by the use or consumption of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). These include using alternative feedstocks to fossil fuels for plastic production, redesigning packaging for reuse, advancing and applying solid waste sorting and separation solutions and looking for opportunities to upcycle FMCG packaging waste. The conference goals include reducing waste and building a circular economy.

Dawne is an environmental engineer with over 13 years’ experience. She is currently enrolled in the Innovation, Enterprise and Circular Economy MBA program that was developed in partnership with Bradford University, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and leading global businesses. Dawne posts about the Circular Economy on her blog Circular Economy North America.
