Environmental professionals have an integral role in the implementation of the Fisheries Act both through their representation of their clients, and as a primary screening role of prospective projects for Fisheries Act compliance.
On June 20, 2016, the Government of Canada launched a review of a number of environmental and regulatory processes. Included in this announcement was the Government’s intention to undertake a review of the 2012 changes to the Fisheries Act. The review will focus on restoring lost protections and incorporating modern safeguards to the Fisheries Act.
This engagement session, hosted by NEIA, will provide an excellent opportunity for environmental professionals to give their feedback and input on this subject directly to DFO officials.
