MUN team seeking support from business community to develop fully electric Formula One style racing car

The SAE Formula E team is a Memorial University of Newfoundland engineering student initiative to build a fully electric Formula One style racing vehicle to compete at the FSAE – Electric competition. Each student team designs, builds, and tests a vehicle that is based on strict design and safety requirements, following which the vehicle will compete against other universities in a series of events at the Lincoln Airpark in New England. This competition is an excellent opportunity for future engineers to acquire practical skills through the design and development process while directly contributing to innovation in the electric vehicle market. With the popularity and demand for electric vehicles on the rise, the Formula E competition allows students to become involved in the research and development of new systems to make electric vehicles more practical and inviting.

The scope of this project entails a significant undertaking for the electrical, computer, and mechanical engineering students who comprise the team. In addition to the project challenges faced by the team members, there is a significant financial requirement associated with a project of this magnitude. We are seeking companies that share our enthusiasm for clean technology development to become involved in the project by contributing monetary donations, aiding in manufacturing, or donating parts. Contributing companies will have their logo printed on our vehicle, as well as a chance to help represent Newfoundland at an international competition.

For more detailed information regarding our team, our goals, the competition, as well as the important role you could play in supporting our initiative, you can contact us at MunFsaeElectric@gmail.com.
