The addition of this program was in response to the growing job market for individuals with an environmental science background. Academic courses in the Master of Environmental Science program include:
Students learn how to apply scientific methods in finding solutions to environmental problems. Work situations could include working with environment consultants who seek solutions to water or air pollution problems, working with multinational oil and gas companies to create environmentally responsible practices, or conducting research with government departments to provide information needed for decisions about environmental policy related to natural resource development.
The work term evaluation is a combination of work performance and a substantive reflective essay. The work term experience and the information gathered during the work term may become the foundation for the project report which is required for the Master of Environmental Science Degree.
