An economic powerhouse in the region and in the world, Turkey ranks 17th in terms of global economic strength and 5th within the European market.
The GDP of Turkey in 2014 was US $800 billion, with the potential to increase to US $1 trillion within the next several years, as the average annual GDP growth is 3.5-4.0 percent. Approximately 50, 000 multi-national organizations do business in Turkey in sectors such as Aerospace, Defence, Environmental Industries, Security, ICT, Education, Agriculture, Marine Industries and Education.
Istanbul is considered to be a financial center in Europe, providing a base for European, North American and Asian Banks, as well as a market center for regional trade activity, providing a beachhead for many North American, European and Asian companies to engage in the regional market, including Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Middle East, and Africa.
Turkey invest $2 billion per year in research and development in key sectors, and also has ongoing infrastructure mega-projects in transportation, energy, health care, agriculture and defence.
To develop your market entry strategy, you will be working with a team comprised of Tony Aggarwal and Murat Tenekecioglu. This team will work closely with NEIA members to identify and pre-qualify relevant opportunities and contacts and to recommend targeted business development strategies specific to each participating firm.
Tony has been involved with UK-Turkish partnerships since 1999, during which time he has worked with hundreds of companies to develop opportunities. Tony has worked for both UK Government business support programmes and Turkish business support agencies, making connections between Turkey and the UK.
As a result, Tony has visited Turkey some 50 times and has been working with his partner, Murat for the last 15 years in these endeavours. Tony will be working with Murat on this project and will be actively involved in project delivery. Tony is also very familiar with Atlantic Canada and Newfoundland in particular having worked with companies from the Province over a number of years.
Murat is based in Istanbul and is a Certified Public Accountant, operating his own mid-size independent practise, Granit Consulting, www.granitymm.com, which is recognised as being a leading independent practice, with a reputation for integrity. Apart from accounting, Murat’s firm is also involved in helping foreign companies to understand the Turkish market and develop their business strategies. As such, he has worked on very many assignments for companies from across the World, particularly working with Tony for the UK and has also worked with major Quebec companies in the energy and aerospace sectors, developing the Turkish market and supporting market entry.
