On Tuesday, May 10th, ADIANL, in partnership with the NL Environmental Industry Association (NEIA), are hosting a boot camp on Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB). Presentations will include representatives from Innovation, Science and Economic Development (formerly Industry Canada), ACOA, Public Services and Procurement Canada (formerly PWGSC), Global Affairs Canada and the National Research Council.
The ITB policy applies to all eligible Defence (DND) and Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) contracts over $100 million. In addition, DND procurements between $20 – $100 million will be assessed for ITB eligibility. Under the ITB policy, companies awarded procurement contracts are required to undertake business activity in Canada equal to the value of the contract; and companies are required to fulfill at a minimum 15% of their overall obligation through work with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Given the amount of current ITB credits that companies have to execute upon coupled with the amount of capital projects underway within DND, especially on the naval side, an opportunity exists for greater engagement by NL companies with Prime Defence Contractors.
