ABSTRACT

Lundrigan’s Marsh is an urban wetland in St. John’s, NL with a long history of development pressure and encroachment. It is surrounded on all sides by light and medium industry, making it physically difficult to see from public spaces thereby diminishing public awareness of its existence or the threats it faces. Northeast Avalon ACAP is nearing completion of a project to evaluate and improve the health of this marsh. This presentation will discuss pressures on urban wetlands, restoration efforts, and the importance of enhancing the public awareness and building community and corporate partnerships.
