Clean Technology and the Green Economy

Clean Technology

Clean technology refers to products, processes, and services that improve on environmental performance in support of sustainable development and clean growth. Practically speaking, the use of clean technology can mean improving efficiency, reducing wastes, and/or mitigating the environmental risks of business activity.

As every industry has an impact on the environment in one way or another, clean technology can be applied and found in all of them – from oil and gas, to mining, to aquaculture, to transportation, to manufacturing, etc. Clean technology products, processes, and services can lead to lower costs and increase productivity for firms of all sizes involved in any industry.

Does your firm have clean technology Make sure you appear in the CleanTechNL Directory.

The Green Economy

The green economy is the aggregate development or adoption of clean technology. It is the culmination of economic activity which protects, mitigates effects to, or even enhances the natural environment in the process. This includes the interactions within and between industry, small businesses, academia, governments, and communities.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Environmental Industry Association (NEIA) is a not-for-profit association of businesses that promotes the development of clean technology and the growth of the green economy in Newfoundland and Labrador. To find out how, click here.

The development and adoption of clean technology in Canada is critical in the country’s efforts to achieve climate change and environmental objectives. This presents enormous opportunities for the creation of new products, processes, and services within our industries here in Newfoundland and Labrador that can be exported worldwide.

Stay tuned to this space as NEIA is working hard, in collaboration with its partners, to create new supports to aid in the growth of the province’s green economy.
